Carl’s GT

I am the original owner of this 1972 MG BGT, which I purchased on 10/12/1972 for $3,743.00 from Redding Imported Motors in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, USA.  That was the same month and year that my wife and I met in college, and we (including the car) have been together ever since.  We dated in this car and we got married with this car.  We both drove it, and then when we started a family, we put the car in my father-in-law’s barn for safekeeping.  We later moved it to our garage until the time was right for restoration.  It sat for 38 years without being driven.

Now it’s been fully restored after a 22-month restoration project done in Hanover, Pennsylvania.  These are pictures of the car before, during, and after the full restoration.  We couldn’t be happier with the results.  We take it to car shows and display the original paperwork, the window sticker, owners manual and warranty, along with a display of collectibles from England.  I did change the color to a British racing green like my other 2 MGs that I had previously owned, one of which was a 1966 MG Midget, which I bought just before turning 16.  I traded that on a 1969 MGB and then traded for this 1972 MGB GT in Bronze Yellow.

I have owned MGs for 54 years, and having this car restored and back on the road makes me feel 21 again.  Some day we hope to visit the UK and tour the British car museums.  That gives another bucket list item to check off!
