The MGB Register Committee has decided under the circumstances to cancel the MGB Register Summer Picnic this year.

The advice from the MG Car Club, as you will probably have gathered from the website, is that no social events should be happening as yet. Even with the restrictions relaxed somewhat, social distancing and group sizes are still fixed at 30. Gatherings over 30 are still illegal. Larger venues can offer Covid19 Secure events once risk assessments have been carried out but the MGCC is still not advising attendance as groups.

We hope to see everyone at this event August 8th 2021

The Midget Register Committee has decided under the circumstances to cancel the Midget Register road run this year.

We have been in touch with the National Trust at Hanbury Hall and they have advised that as it stands at present they will be unable to accommodate us due to the ongoing coronavirus situation.

The advice from the club, as you will probably have gathered from the website, is that no social events should be happening as yet. Even with the restrictions relaxed somewhat, social distancing and group sizes are still fixed at 30. Gatherings over 30 are still illegal. Larger venues can offer Covid19 Secure events once risk assessments have been carried out but the club is still not advising attendance as groups. Social natters at pubs etc are still sometime off as they can’t put the Covid 19 Security in place so even though some car groups are starting pub natters again, MGCC advice is still not to.

MGCC has also had information from MSUK whilst they were discussing the race events that it is unlikely that any permits will be given for road runs, possibly for the rest of this year, so we are also unlikely to get the necessary permit from MSUK in any event!

As stated in the SafetyFast! advertisement for the event, we will refund all those that have already paid to enter.

In response to constantly evolving information from UK Government regarding social distancing
guidelines for public spaces and after extensive discussions with our venue and partners, the MG Car
Club has been forced to reconsider any postponement dates for MGLive! in 2020.
It has become clear that it will not be possible to run an event on the scale of MGLive! this year and so
instead, the MG Car Club will focus on planning for a fantastic weekend event for 2021.
The MG Car Club is committed to following UK Government advice on events and public spaces.
Current public health advice suggests that we will be required to observe strict social distancing
measures and limits on the numbers of people gathering, for the foreseeable future. Furthermore, with
such a packed calendar of motorsport events for venues such as Silverstone to fit into the remainder
of the year, the re-scheduling of MGLive! for a date that would deliver the sort of event our members
and visitors expect and deserve, is not possible. Also, motorsport is to be run behind closed doors for
the foreseeable future, with no spectators allowed.

The Covid-19 pandemic has developed rapidly and with news that motorsport’s governing body, Motorsport UK, has suspended all organising permits and Certificates of Exemption for motorsport events until at least 30th June, the MG Car Club has been required to postpone MGLive! 2020.

We are currently entering into extensive discussions with Silverstone and our other event partners to find suitable options to reschedule the event.

All entry tickets, camping passes and exhibitor bookings already purchased for the event, due to be held 13-14 June 2020, will be valid for the rescheduled date.

As a consequence of the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show, with Discovery, will now be postponed to 26-28 March 2021.

Everyone involved in putting the show together is extremely disappointed that the ultimate restoration experience will not be brought to the community this year. However, the health and well-being of our visitors, exhibitors, partners, contractors and staff is of the upmost importance. With the government’s roadmap suggesting that restrictions on movement will still be in place for some time, it is therefore the right decision for us to cease planning for an event of this size and importance in August.

We have been monitoring the situation regarding the government guidelines on Covid 19. As it looks like this is going to go on for at least another 6 months and with consideration to the ex-employees many who are in the vulnerable category we have decided to cancel this event.
