MG Live! Postponed until 2022

The MG Car Club must announce, with regret, that MGLive! scheduled to take place this coming June, has been postponed until 2022 and that all ticket money being held for attendees from last year will now be refunded in full.

The MG Car Club’s Race Championship still intends to hold a circuit based race meeting on the weekend 12-13 June 2021, but will be committed to following government and Motorsport UK guidance on whether spectators are permitted or not.

The current pandemic is continuing to place tough restrictions on our lives and the ability of the MG Car Club to organise and host events. Whilst we have some hope in sight with the rollout of the vaccine, it is clear that there is still some way to go yet. The MG Car Club therefore, was facing huge uncertainty over our ability to put on the scale and quality of event that those visitors to MGLive! enjoy and expect.

The MG Car Club has been in extensive discussions with Silverstone and other event partners to find suitable options to run the event, but with the current uncertainty over the timeline of the lifting of restrictions on public gatherings, it was thought appropriate to ensure all ticket holders from the 2020 event were now issued a refund. All entry tickets, camping passes and exhibitor bookings already purchased for the 2020 event, will now be refunded.

The refund process is automatic and there is nothing ticket holders need to do. You will receive all monies paid into the bank account originally used to purchase the tickets, before the end of February 2021. Please be patient whilst the team at Kimber House work through the transactions.

The events team at the MG Car Club fully understand that gatherings and events such as MGLive! are extremely important to the MG community. So, whilst this June will not play host to MGLive! as we know it, the club are working on an alternative event in collaboration with other prominent car clubs to join forces later in the year to bring you a memorable occasion. We hope this will be at a point in the year when restrictions have lifted sufficiently enough to allow us to meet. More news on this event will be announced soon – so watch this space!

Furthermore, the MG Car Club will be expanding on the successful MG Social event at Gaydon last year and has a provisional date secured for 2nd October 2021. We hope that you’ll all be able to join us.

Lauran Gallacher, Assistant General Manager of the MGCC said:

We remain committed to following UK Government and Motorsport UK advice. We know that the MG community will be greatly disappointed, but in light of the current uncertainty around the lifting of restrictions, we have had to make the very difficult decision to postpone the event until 2022. The world continues to face an unprecedented situation and we will now enter into negotiations to secure a future date as soon as possible.

Current government and public health advice states that all, non-essential social contact with other people should be avoided for the foreseeable future.

The MG Car Club thanks its members for their patience and understanding during these challenging times.

IMPORTANT:

The MG Car Club asks specifically that, in the first instance, attendees booked to attend do not contact us regarding refunds at this stage. The MG Car Club will be refunding all ticket holders, but the process takes time. If however, you feel you have not received a refund by 1st March 2021, then do get in touch via office@mgcc.co.uk. Like many organisations, the club’s offices at Kimber House in Abingdon are currently closed to visitors and much of the team are working remotely, so please be patient if calling the office or enquiring via email as the MG Car Club is experiencing a high volume of correspondence in the present situation.
